British Sugar announces 2011/12 sugar beet campaign start dates

Having consulted with growers on the proposed factory start dates for the 2011/12 campaign, British Sugar has confirmed the start date as the 14th September 2011 for all four processing sites (Bury St Edmunds, Cantley, Newark and Wissington).

Colm McKay, British Sugar's Agriculture Director, said: "Our growers are keen to make an early start to this year's harvesting, as conditions are favourable following recent rainfall, which has helped offset the effects of an exceptionally dry period during the spring."
