Talented Wilmslow confectioners win the Presidents Cup at Richemont Club 2007
Two Wilmslow confectioners, Elaine Hamey and Lisa Smith, impressed the judges and won the Presidents Cup in a live wedding cake decoration demonstration at the Richemont Club Competition on October 14, 2007.
The pair were representing Wilmslow bakery, Peter Herd, at the competition, which was held alongside Bakers Fair North West in Bolton, organised by British Baker magazine and sister title Bake & Take.
The live contest kept audiences captivated for over two and a half hours, with teams competing from Peter Herd, Slattery Patissier & Chocolatier, Roses Bakers, Classic Celebration Cakes and Arthur Chatwins. As part of the competition, teams used Icecraft Sugarpaste launched earlier this year by British Sugar. Given the choice between Icecraft in either white or ivory, the winning duo showed off the Icecraft’s adaptability by creating a cappucino-shaded creation.
“We had never used Icecraft Sugarpaste until the competition, but were very impressed by how easy it was to use,” said Elaine Hamey, confectionery manageress at Peter Herd. Colleague Lisa Smith added, “We were impressed by Icecraft’s overall smoothness and taste.”
